Dubai’s Property Market Witnesses a Massive Surge in Female Investors
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has witnessed a tremendous rise in the number of female investors, with a total of 26,698 registered investors making 33,419 real estate investments worth over AED58.8bn (approximately $16bn) in the past year. This represents a remarkable increase of 50.7% in volume and 53% in value from the previous year, as per data from the Dubai Land Department (DLD).
This surge in female investors reflects the vision of the UAE’s leadership to empower women to participate in various economic sectors, including real estate. The emirate’s robust regulatory framework, offering strong protection for investments, its positive economic outlook, and exceptional infrastructure have further encouraged women to invest in the local sector.
Women’s growing participation in economic sectors and the culture of gender balance in organizations across the emirate will help achieve the objective of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, announced this objective to double the emirate’s economy by 2033.
Dubai’s real estate sector ended 2022 on a high note, with annual transactions crossing the AED500bn milestone for the first time, accounting for 122,658 transactions, valued at AED528bn. The real estate sector’s ability to provide some of the world’s best returns for investments has spurred women to invest in the local sector.
The role of women in the real estate sector goes beyond just investing. Women also play an essential role as developers, real estate brokers, and members of the sector’s workforce. According to DLD’s data, women account for 34.8% of registered real estate brokers, with 4,519 women brokers contributing to 8,606 transactions worth AED696m. Women play instrumental roles across sectors and levels in delivering the organization’s mandate, constituting 42% of total employees in the Land Department.
